    Good post.

Make Your Wordpress Templates Editable

Internet

I am trying to make this site’s look more interesting and more monetized with some ads. But it seems I have to change the style and allocated more empty space in my blog. Unfortunately, the original themes of the Wordpress templates can’t be edited. Thus, I browse some pages in internet to find out how make those pages writable.

I found very usable article about it here, and trying to figure it out. As an overview there are two easy ways to do it. First is using FTP and second one is via cpanel.

By Using FTP

  • Open FTP client application, I use FileZilla, and connect it on the net.
  • Browse the folder which theme files are exist usually under /public_html/wp-content/themes.
  • Choose all files under that folder except subfolder and image files. choose only PHP and CSS files
  • Right click –> properties. Change numeric value from anything to 666
  • You will find the symbols below Permission tab change to -rw-rw-rw
  • It means your choosen files become writable.

Via cPanel

  • open your cPanel account.
  • Navigate to folder which the files exist.
  • Change the file permission to 666 one by one.

The first way seems more easier because we can do it together between files. After all steps, you login to admin panel and you will see that the files are writable.

happy editing. :)
